If
you want to make mp3's from your CD the easiest way
is to get the right program that 'grabs' CD tracks and
converts them to mp3's for you. You can find it in our
Rippers section. Once the
program is installed you are able to put one of your
regular audio CDs in the drive and use it to 'grab'
the files that are on your CD. The program will convert
CD audio tracks to the wave files and then encode it
to smaller Mp3's, which you can then play on your computer,
or post on the Internet. There are various settings
in these programs, which can determine the quality of
the Mp3 you are creating. If you create an Mp3 at a
higher quality it will reflect itself in the increased
size of the file.
You
can also use the old manual method of encoding CD tracks
to MP3's? You'll have to use one of the CD ripper programs
from our Rippers section to
copy the music from the CD and save it as wave files
on your computer. You will then encode a wave music
file to Mp3 format, by using an MP3 encoder. You can
find different types of encoders in our Encoders
section. The encoder will take a wave file and remove
all the frequencies your ear can't hear. That makes
the file about 90% smaller, almost without reducing
the sound quality.
Keep
in mind that you may NOT encode CD's you have purchased
and post the MP3 files on the Internet. If you do so,
you may be liable in copyright infringement. However,
you are allowed to encode your own CD's if you want
to listen to them at your own computer.
